Beauchamps High School

A map showing cycle and walking routes to and from Beauchamps High School

Getting to and from Beauchamps High School

These routes and maps are suggestions of how you could stop taking the car and swap to cycling, walking, or scooting to school. They don’t show every possible route and you could have fun finding a way that works for you. If you know a safe way that gets you there even quicker, that’s great! Take that route instead.

Beauchamps Drive

Heavy traffic zone

The highlighted heavy traffic zone on the map shows the area that will have the heaviest traffic at school time. By using alternate routes and a mix of walking and cycling, you can avoid sitting in traffic and being late for school.

Walking routes

Beauchamps Drive  has pavements on both sides. There’s a zebra crossing a couple of hundred metres away, towards the town centre. There are  speed bumps and chicanes closer to the school to make crossing the road easier and safer. Walkers coming from the town centre benefits from a pedestrian underpass to help cross the busy A132.

Cycling routes

The chicanes on Beauchamps Drive are beneficial for bikes as they have a small lane for cyclists. This means cyclists don’t have to wait for traffic coming the other way. Parts of the south side Wickford have plenty of dedicated off-road cycle paths.

Bus routes

There are two buses which go past the school, serving the housing estate where the school is located and  connecting to Wickford town centre and Rayleigh. One bus  goes all the way to the Wickford railway station. Bus stops are a short distance from the school’s front entrance.

Train routes

Wickford railway station is just over a mile walk from Beauchamps, with pavements all the way. Zebra crossing and underpasses are available to help crossing the road. Wickford station connects to  Billericay, Battlesbridge and Rayleigh. Greater Anglia offer discounts on train travel for students at some schools.
