Heavy traffic zone

The highlighted heavy traffic zone on the map shows the area that will have the heaviest traffic at school time. By using alternate routes and a mix of walking and cycling, you can avoid sitting in traffic and being late for school.

Walking routes

Roads around the school site have pavements on both sides. There are off-road footpaths heading down the northern and western sides of the school. The residential estates near the school have footpaths away from the road, some of which pass through a park.

Cycling routes

The school is on Colchester Road, which is long and straight, making the sight-lines good for safe cycling. There’s also an off-road route through the park to the west of the school, and along the north side of the school.

Bus routes

The school is very well served by public buses. Many bus services for Manningtree going right past the entrance. These connect with the other parts of Manningtree but also villages like Mistley and Lawford, and continue all the way to Colchester. There are bus stops on both sides of the road directly outside the school.

Train routes

Manningtree High School is less than a mile walk from the Manningtree station and a lot of the route is completely off-road. Manningtree station provides direct trains along the coast to Colchester, Dovercourt, Harwich, and Ipswich. Greater Anglia offer discounts on train travel for students at some schools, talk to staff about this.
