Debden Park High School
Getting to and from Debden Park High School
These routes and maps are suggestions of how you could stop taking the car and swap to cycling, walking, or scooting to school. They don’t show every possible route and you could have fun finding a way that works for you. If you know a safe way that gets you there even quicker, that’s great! Take that route instead.
Heavy traffic zone
The highlighted heavy traffic zone on the map shows the area that will have the heaviest traffic at school time. By using alternate routes and a mix of walking and cycling, you can avoid sitting in traffic and being late for school.
Debden Park is on the edge of Loughton, behind a housing estate which has plenty of pavements on both sides. The junction at the school entrance has guard rails and crossing islands. There’s a pedestrian entrance which is separate from the entrance for cars.
Rectory Lane, one of the major roads less than a mile from the school, has a cycle path completely separated from the road. There’s also a route coming in from the south of Debden tube station.Roads closer to the school are all residential and relatively straight meaning good sight-lines for cyclists.
Although Debden Park High School is slightly away from any main roads, there are still a number of bus services which stop very close to the school. These services link the school to the rest of Loughton, Debden and Buckhurst Hill.
Children aged 11 to 15 years and 16 to 17 years can get free or discounted travel on Transport for London buses. The 11-15 Zip Oyster photocard and the 16+ Zip Oyster photocard are available to those who live both inside and outside London.
Well under from a mile from the school is Debden Underground Station. The station is on the Central Line between Stratford and Epping. The services are incredibly frequent and, as the school’s not in central London, you’re more likely to get a seat.
Similar to the buses, children aged 11 to 15 years and 16 to 17 years can get free or discounted travel. The 11-15 Zip Oyster photocard and the 16+ Zip Oyster photocard are available to those who live both inside and outside London.
