St Helena School

A map showing cycle and walking routes to and from St Helena School

Getting to and from St Helena School

These routes and maps are suggestions of how you could stop taking the car and swap to cycling, walking, or scooting to school. They don’t show every possible route and you could have fun finding a way that works for you. If you know a safe way that gets you there even quicker, that’s great! Take that route instead.

Address

Heavy traffic zone

Heavy traffic at drop off and pick up times is usual. We recommend avoiding roads within roughly 1000 metres of St Helena School. This includes St Mary’s Fields and the smaller roads attached to them.

Drop off where Middleborough meets North Hill. Turn left onto Sheepen Place and follow onto Sheepen Road and cross the A134 to reach St Helena School.

From the South - cycling only

St Marys Fields (0.8km approx.)

Drop off where St Mary’s Fields meets Henry Laver Court. Use the public footpath and follow through the estate. Turn left onto Sheepen Road to reach St Helena School.

Park & Ride

Park & Ride at Colchester could help you on your journey.

Bus routes

Although no public bus services go down Sheepen Road, a huge variety serve Cymbelline Way and Westway on the other sides of the school site. There are plenty more on the nearby routes into the town centre. The school is a very short walk from a great many bus services coming into Colchester.

Train routes

St Helena is under 1.6km’s walk from the mainline Colchester station. This provides quick access via the main East Anglian line to places like Manningtree, Witham, Marks Tey and Kelvedon.

Greater Anglia offer discounts on train travel for students at some schools.
