Heavy traffic at drop off and pick up times is usual. We recommend avoiding roads within roughly 1000 metres of The Ongar Academy. This includes parts of Chelmsford Road, High street, Epping Road, Fyfield Road and the smaller roads attached to them.
Walking routes
From the East – walking only
Chelmsford Road via Fyfield Road (1.6km approx.)
Drop off where Chelmsford Road meets The Street. Turn left onto Chelmsford Road and follow the road and cross the road using the pedestrian island. Turn left onto Fyfield Road to reach The Ongar Academy on right.
From the South – walking only
High Street (900m approx.)
Drop off where the High Street meets Mayflower Way. Turn right onto High Street and cross the road using the pedestrian island. Turn left onto Fyfield Road to reach The Ongar Academy.
From the West – walking only
Epping Road via Springfield Close (900m approx.)
Drop off where Epping Road meets Springfield Close. Turn left onto Epping Road, then left onto Fyfield. Follow Fyfield road and use the zebra crossing to reach The Ongar Academy.
Bus routes
Chipping Ongar has bus services going towards Chelmsford, Brentwood and Epping. The services going to Chelmsford, via Fyfield, Willingale and Roxwell, goes right past the school entrance.
