The Colne Community School and College

Getting to and from The Colne Community School and College
These routes and maps are suggestions of how you could stop taking the car and swap to cycling, walking, or scooting. They don’t show every possible route and you could have fun finding a way that works for you. If you know a safe way that gets you there even quicker, that’s great! Take that route instead.

Heavy traffic zone
The highlighted heavy traffic zone on the map shows the area that will have the heaviest traffic at school time. By using alternate routes and a mix of walking and cycling, you can avoid sitting in traffic and being late for school..
Walking routes
There’s lots of footpaths around Colne and throughout Brightlingsea, a perfect way to dodge the traffic and take a short-cut. All the nearby estates have pedestrian cut-throughs and there’s also a well-lit footpath running down the east of the school.
Cycling routes
The off-road footpath running down the east side of the school, doubles as a cycleway, meaning those students coming to school by bike get a good short-cut away from the main road in and out of town.
Bus routes
There’s only one bus service in Brightlingsea, but fortunately it goes right past the front on the school in both directions. It loops around the town and travels to Alresford, Wivenhoe and eventually Colchester. The bus stop heading out of town has seating and a shelter.
